🧵 What's Happening in Bihar? Rahul Gandhi’s Face on Sanitary Pads in Bihar Sparks Outrage”

The Bihar Congress are launching, "Priyadarshini Udaan Yojana" and planning to distribute 5 lakh free sanitary pad boxes and place a tag with photo of Rahul Gandhi and the party's proposed benefit to women, "Mai-Behen Maan Yojana" of ₹2,500 per month benefit to women.

⚖️ Powerful image and Polarity in Response

Congress: It is a gesture to encourage awareness of menstrual hygiene and acknowledge Rahul's "inspiration" for the plan.

Political Backlash: NDA leaders have called it a "direct insult to women" and cheap gimmick and ideological bankruptcy.

Opposition: BJP, JD(U), and LJP say Congress does not care when using a private health product to seek votes. Supporters argue messaging should focus on menstrual hygiene, not photo on packaging.

🗣️ Voices from the Grassroots

Critics: “It’s awkward and inappropriate, who’s designing this?” asks political commentator Pradeep Bhandari.

Supporters: All India Mahila Congress leader Alka Lamba counters, “Go ahead, print Modi’s photo on vaccine certificates- why not Rahoul? This is women empowerment.”

📊 Why it Matters Politically

The programme follows the Bihar Assembly elections, designed to target female voters through welfare outreach.

It raises bigger issues: is branding health initiatives a savvy campaign strategy or an irreverent circus?

Is this innovative or invasive?
